How to submit a grant application
Please note the content and structural funding criteria described above.
We value long-term partnerships and project support. Therefore, we carefully review your grant application through a multi-stage process. This way, we aim to save you effort while ensuring that your project aligns optimally with our strategy.
We request your support in ensuring an efficient application process and kindly ask you to follow the steps below. Please pay close attention to the information that we require of you at each step.
Information
Project idea
If you meet the funding criteria, please send the following information as text in an email to info@lb-foundation.ch:
- Details about your organisation.
- A brief description of your project that includes: goal, thematic topic(s) to be addressed, country/countries, duration, target group(s), anticipated impact, and a total budget estimate.
- Explanation of why the Leopold Bachmann Foundation is an ideal partner for you and for the project.
As soon as we have reviewed your email, we will give you a brief feedback.
Proposal Part 1 & 2
If your project meets all our criteria, we will invite you to fill out the first part of our application form. With this document, we would like to learn more about your project. The application form includes the following:
- Information about your organisation
- Information about the local implementing partner
- Overarching goal of the project
- Minimum of three key outcomes of the project
- Description of the target group(s)
- Budget overview
If the first part of your application is approved, you will receive the second part of our form with questions on the following details of your project:
- Project duration (incl. start and end dates)
- Detailed budget and financing plan
- Payment and reporting schedules
- Logframe or Theory of Change that specify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
We will provide you with a template for the budget and financial plan.
The application form and all required documents should be sent via email to info@lb-foundation.ch.
In addition to our application forms, you may submit your own documents as a supplement should these contain further relevant details about the proposed project. However, we will only review your proposal once the completed application forms and required documentation have been submitted.
Assessment
During the review process, there will be one or more discussions between you and the responsible programme manager. These conversations serve to get to know each other and to clarify questions regarding your application.
In its assessment of your application, the foundation reserves the right to obtain opinions from third parties.
Decision
In the case of a definitive approval of your application, we will draw up a binding grant agreement that includes terms and conditions. Please see our Funding guidelines for further details.
Once the foundation has received both parts of your grant application, the review process before a final decision is made can take up to four months.
Implementation
We engage with our partners on a regular basis. Submission of interim and annual reports, including financial details, is a requirement. At the end of the project a comprehensive project report is due. Our partners are expected to proactively inform us about any delays, major deviations, or changes during the project.
