The foundation was established in 1997 by Leopold Bachmann.
The foundation’s funding activities are financed through the net proceeds from the real estate holdings bequeathed to the foundation by its founder.
The foundation does not accept unsolicited applications. If a vacancy arises, it will be advertised on various job portals.
Funding & Applications
The Leopold Bachmann Foundation is internationally active in the areas of education and vocational training, agroecology, and entrepreneurship.
Its aim is to support people in developing sustainable prospects for their future.
In Switzerland, the foundation’s current focus is on agroecology, particularly sustainable agricultural practices.
Asia:
India (Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan),
Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand

Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa
South America:
Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela
Applications can generally be submitted throughout the year. There are no fixed application deadlines.
However, depending on capacity and available resources, the acceptance of new applications may be temporarily paused. Current information can be found in the grant portal.
Applications can only be submitted via the foundation’s grant portal.
Applications submitted by email or postal mail will no longer be considered.
Applications can be submitted in German and English only.
For first-time applicants, the maximum funding amounts to CHF 100,000 per year and is typically granted for a period of 2 or 3 years.
